FEV was founded in 1978 as a privately held company by Prof. Franz Pischinger who, at the time, headed the Institute for Applied Thermodynamics at the Technical University of Aachen. We have grown into an internationally-recognized leader in the design and development of internal combustion engines, conventional, electric, and alternative vehicle drive systems, energy technology, and a major supplier of advanced testing and instrumentation products and services to some of the world's largest OEMs.
The FEV Group, with headquarters in Aachen, Germany, is an internationally recognized vehicle development services provider. FEV’s expertise ranges from consulting to the development and testing of innovative vehicle concepts through readiness for serial production. In addition to traditional engine and transmission development, vehicle integration, calibration, and the homologation of state-of-the-art gasoline and diesel engines, increasing importance is being placed on the development of hybrid and electric powertrains as well as alternative fuels. FEV experts focus on the advancement of electronic control systems, as well as connected vehicles and automation.
Present on 4 continents, with more than 35 subsidiaries, FEV has recently turned its attention to East Central Europe, where the presence was somewhat limited. To counteract this absence, last year, 2 complementary locations were opened in Romania. The headquarter is in Bucharest, and it focuses on Electrics and Electronics topics and vehicle Application, and a Software Center in Timisoara, which focuses on Software Development, Verification and Validation.
